Hi,anyone know where I can buy white leghorns from?I live in West Midlands and can't seem to find any nearby, prepared to travel a little if someone can let me know of a breeder[only want two to add to small free range flock].

Go onto the web site for The Leghorn Club GB Martdog. White large fowl are no.12 Black in the RH column. Consider that the breed standard for males and females is different. So to breed to show standard you need two breeding lines. Cockerels have an upright comb and to breed them you need hens the same. Hens have dropped combs and to breed them you need a cockerel the same. So if you just want some to add to your flock get pullets from a cock breeder. They won't be to show standard but as they are a breeding 'waste product' they should be much cheaper.

thanks, but nothing doing on website at present.not looking for show specimens so if anyone knows of any please let me know, thanks for the help so far.

There is only one utility breeder listed on the Leghorn website and this is not the place to look if you are after layers. Very few of the Breed Clubs cater for layers, just exhibition birds, although Foxy says the Faverolles Club is keen to preserve the utility features. Cock breeders/pullet breeders is just for the show people, for egg laying it's irrelevant. I breed males with upright combs and hens with flopped combs from the same mating.

I have pm'd you with a number to try Martdog3.
