I'm an 8 month old Call Drake and have been single since my partner ('me duck' I liked to call her) left without a word just before Christmas - a common time of year for such partings, statistically, they say. Since then I've become closer acquainted with the 4 hens I share a space with, one in particular I'm keen on, since she's white like me, but she has ignored my advances. I now share the coop with these kind girls at night, rather than go back to a cold, empty, bachelor-duck house. I manage to snuggle up next to my favourite bird in the nest box - any port in a storm.

My question, dear reader, is: Can I be happy like this for the rest of my life?
If I start dating again should it be with a duck the same age as I am?
The Coop Commandant would really like a decent chance of eggs for the table and wonders if I could find love again (in a purely platonic way, of course) with a normal duck (not a Call, since they sometimes don't lay). If so, which breed would be good and again, what age? I wonder if I might be bullied by a larger lady?

Any advice greatly appreciated. I'd like to make a decision about where life is heading before too long.
