Living The Good Life

Sad, but hilarious. Cats can live a good life, too.

Western Isles is in the news again.

Any comments, islanders?

I find it strange that they are putting so much emphasis on Catholic teaching when only South Uist, Eriskay and Barra are Catholic. North of that, North Uist, Harris and Lewis are asCalvinist as you can get - all Wee frees and not a left-footer in sight. Can't imagine the locals accepting Catholic teaching and they won't be happy about the Comhairle voting for it..

Interesting article Marigold. Leaving aside the two paragraphs of unintelligible technobabble attributed to Stephen Wright are they really claiming that drones can be used in all weather conditions (That’s a rhetorical question because that’s exactly what the are claiming.
If the weather prevents a ferry sailing then one’s mail is a day or two late. If a drone fails and falls in to the sea then one’s mail is lost forever. I know which option I prefer.

Hear, hear! Despite all the rubbish people hear/ are told about our ferries, our ferry (MV Loch Seaforth,Stornoway-Ullapool) is designed to sail in rough weather. Sometimes it's too rough so the ferry ties up for a couple of days although often can get through at night when the wind drops. We get the odd day without mail but it's not of great concern. I doubt it would be top of anyone's list. We choose to live here so we take the rough with the smooth.

Reminds me of Scarp rocket mail!

I've seen the movie "The Rocket Post". It's an enjoyable watch, even for the scenery and the sort of jolly madness of the whole idea!

This looks an amazing job. If I were a whole lot younger, I’d love to apply for this.

Yep. Beautiful place. Should attract applicants from all over the world.
Pity the selection panel having to sift through the applications as 95% will be from fantasists and nut jobs.
