and ideas why my little hen appears to have lost her voice. She has had sour crop and I am treating at the moment and she seems lots better. However, she appears to have lost her voice she kinda does a quite squeak but nothing else. I have been worming her with flubenvet as I read gape worm could cause this but still no sound. She is reasonably bright but recovering from sour crop so not 100%.

I really don't know, it's not something I have heard of before but it might be related to her sour crop... I would monitor her carefully and if she seems healthy in other ways, wait to see if she recovers on her own.

Keep an eye open for respiritory problems in case there is some infection in the respiritory tract.

thanks tim still a bit worried about her. She is pooping but its green which I suppose could be restricted food but that squidy bit in of her crop wont go away (have vomitted her a few times). I am giving her an oral fungal gel from the chemist cause my vet is really not good with hens. Last time took her with sour crop (she is a repeat offender) he would only give me antibiotics which made her worse blew her crop up like a baloon. Asked for Niastatin and was told they did not do this to continue with the antibiotics. After reading up found it was probably fungal and antibitoics a bad idea so stopped and found this other solution after trying a second vet in my area who also said could not get antifungal drug. This particular time she made a full recovery. My problem this time is that trying to determine if she needs antibiotics as I do have some in but will it make the sour crop worse. Or is the sour crop a bacterial infection this time. I have been considering sending a sample of to chicken vet I think it is but this all takes time and with the easter break far too long.

poor little hen
:(

Maybe try probiotic yogurt, rather than full ABs? And see how she reacts to that?
best wishes for her...
