Hi there,

Went along to the show which had a very good turn out, with lots of lovely birds and lively chat. Was very impressed with a 6yr old Alicia's birds who proudly showed me all her beautfiful chickens- some with winners cards.

Hopefully "PJ" will agree that the photos are a tad more impressive than Bakewell except his buff orp pic!

:D :D :D Hi its Alicia, the girl from the show. I have only just seen these pictures and posts. You will be pleased to hear that i have had great success at all the shows so far and today at Alrewas show all my hard work and mums patients paid of as we made it to championship row and I won Best Juvanille with Tina my Orpington Bantam who i am sure will go far as she is only a baby and caused the judge a 15min debate over whether to give her or P &T jones mature Bantam the reserve best in show. Unfortunatly we missed out on that but watch out everyone hopefully next time. :-)08 :-)08 :-)08 My Little sister only 4yrs also won a third for her three bantam eggs and a second for egg contents which we are very re-leaved about as last week at Ashby show she dropped them all getting out of the car to go to the tent. :-)17

The Pictures look great. Thankyou everyone for your support.

Hi Alicia,

VERY WELL DONE!! You and your chickens are stars in the making.....only 6 years old or are we now 7?
Glad you little sister managed all those eggs....and well done. Have you seen the post & photos on here about last years Alrewas show, we managed to win a 2nd for some eggs BUT we are not brave enough to enter the shows with any of our chickens.

Lovely to hear from you, and I am sure both mum & dad are very proud of you.

Sharron xx
I will PM you the photos

Hi elmwood. Some really lovely birds there, the buff orpington and the blue quail d'anvers in particular. Also the black D'Anvers cock. But also some surprisingly substandard birds. One of the D'anvers I would consider a cross. And for me all pekins or cochins should have a mounded tail with no pointed feathers showing. Perhaps it's just sour grapes. Being housebound (don't drive, no reliable public transport) I can't get to show my birds.
Sorry Alicia! Erm where do you live? I have a white pekin bantam with two (halfbred) chicks, who has a well mounded tail. You could have them for free if you want to collect- Kent.

We would have loved to have seen them all. But we arrived at 10.00 to be told it was closed for judging until 12.00. Unfortunately the PP advert didn't tell us novices that -we assumed it would be like all the others we have been to, judging takes place around the visitors.
