Well if this doesn't take the biscuit. I guess I got my just desserts for trying to have a cuppa and a cake in front of my mob, they showed they aren't birds to be trifled with and muffin was gonna stop them from filling their crops. You gateaux admire their spirit I s'pose, initially it was three of the white ones who surprised me by jumping onto my knee but by the time we could get a photo all that was left was a couple of brownies, I told them I was only pudding up with it as it was their last day with me and that was the only reason I hadn't chouxed them away but they didn't seem to eclair.

Ok running out of silly cake puns now, on a serious note, it was my last afternoon with them before they go to their new home, so I was spoiling them a bit, ok quite a lot by my standards, me being Mr don't treat your birds too much. I will really miss them, especially as I have reared this lot from chicks but long term this move will bring the goal of having larger flocks on more land closer to being a reality and I know they are off to a good home. The bird in the foreground is summer who is looking so good after the fox attack and the other is her daughter Phoenix who came back from the brink with cocciodosis, both of them are loners and the same spirit obviously runs through both of them.

Well that made me laugh Dinosaw- nowt wrong with cake puns. Sorry you are leaving us and you will be missed. Look forward to your return. I hadn't the courage to leave our chickens behind and took them with us, but as I know that isn't an option for you. Sure they will be fine as you will be. I look forward to reading about your big adventure.

Thanks a lot Chris, I'm sure I will still lurk about the forum, I will just have to preface everything with 'I used to' for a while. I have to admit my first response when going to Turkey came up was to say no, simply because of the birds but I think in the end it was too good to pass up. I thought what you did during your move to France showed a huge dedication to your birds, I'm not sure I could have done the same.

Good luck in your new venture, Dinosaw. I'm glad you are still going to keep in touch with us, do let us know how you are getting on in Turkey. Please don't just lurk, you are part of the furniture by now and we would miss you if you disappeared.

Thanks Marigold, only three weeks to go now, the gang went today, not as easily as I had hoped the older two gave me a real runaround using the green frog to great effect but we got there in the end. So strange, every time I look down the garden I expect to see them there but the run is empty :(
