LEG RING ADVICE PLEASE

Could someone advise me on leg rings please.
I have some l/f Orpington growers that I need to identify & thought I would put leg rings on them. I bought some 14mm spiral ones after measuring their legs, but they seem quite a snug fit. I presume there should be a bit of slack to allow for growth? What is the recommended procedure as I don't want it to be uncomfortable for them?. Can anyone recommend a size for Orpingtons, or suggest a good way to measure please?

If the 14mm are too small try the 16mm or 18mm. I have different sizes and find as they are growing change the rings accordingly, a little like nappy sizes on kids

Hi, are you member of the poultry club of great britain? If you are you can buy identity leg rings. you get a piece of paper of the website http://www.poultryclub.org/conservation/the-ringing-scheme and it tells you the size for the bird, then you just send of for them.

Hi Thankyou for the info above MOST useful, have been after PCGB info on this for ages and had not found the conservation page!!!!!!!! Also useful that you do not have to be a member to get rings - although I do intend to join!!!!
