Due to the PM I have just received from a member I have decided to leave the forum. I just wanted to thank everyone who has given me so much help and advice over the last 12 months. The majority of people on this forum are very kind and considerate to new chicken keepers and in particular I would like to thank Chris who has gone out of his way to help me out with very useful and relevant advice on many occasions. Maybe Marigold or Foxy you would be kind enough to let me know how I go about de registering myself from the forum. Thank you

Hello Sue,

I am sad to read this. We have no access to the PM system and rely on users reporting messages they feel are inappropriate or break our rules. You can chose not to allow personal messages from specific members if you wish and I would be happy to guide you in setting this up if you like?

If we can change your mind, please let me know although I respect your decision if you would like to leave the forum. I can delete your account if this is what you wish. This will not remove your posts but your username will no longer exist and would not be recoverable once deleted.

I hope you will reconsider, it will be a loss to our community to see you go... Whilst I don't get much time to post these days, I'm always on the forum daily working on the admin side and read many of the posts by RSS feed when I can and you have certainly been a very active member.

Tim.

I too would be very sorry indeed if you left us, Sue. Over the past year, I feel you have become one of my online friends, and although we have never met we have chatted quite a bit through P.M.s and exchanged ideas in numerous posts. It has been good to see that, although your experiences of chicken keeping have not always been easy, to put it mildly, you have set very high standards, and have grown in expertise and confidence and have been very supportive and helpful to others with problems. In any group of enthusiasts there are going to be people who don't see eye to eye about how things should be done, but on here I've always felt that we all try to include everybody, whatever their level of experience or commitment, and though we may disagree we try to do it with a good grace, and a touch of humour sometimes.

I agree with what Tim has said in his post above - if you have received an inappropriate private message from anyone, it would be helpful if you reported it to the moderation team, if you feel this is the best thing to do. We have clear guidelines on how the Forum should run, in our Welcome section at the top of the Board Index, and have always tried to be a friendly place where everyone feels safe and welcome. Like Tim, I hope you will reconsider, because I really don't want to lose you from our group.

WHAT !!!!!!!!!

I rely on your support when faced with problems as do many other forum users Sue. I know it's the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic but I wouldn't want the forum to sink as well, which it would for me. Please please reconsider.

I am disappointed with (). Some people choose pets and others livestock and most sit inbetween -that's just the way it is. () has livestock and you have pets Sue. They are the two extremes of domestic poultry keeping and therefore have two extremely opposite viewpoints. A bit of tolerance for the opposite viewpoint is required -'freedom of speech' in other words.

Sue,
I read this earlier and didn't know whether to respond or not but here goes. I read most posts and when I feel I can give a postive/helpful response will do so which is surely what this and other similar forums are all about. It is cowardly to hide behind a PM to upset/bully anyone.
Don't give in to the intimidation Sue and allow this person to win (and others like them I have read recently) we can all see through it and I for one am shocked when I read some of the curt responses. Overall this is a wonderful forum where we can raise our concerns and get swift and sensible replies.Don't "cut off your nose to spite your face" Sue and don't let the buggers get you down Chin up.
PS, no PM,s please!!!!!

I would just like to say - don't forget that if you don't know someone, it is very difficult to work out if they are being rude, curt, friendly or downright sarcastic - you can't see body language, hear their voice or see the twinkle (or not) in the eye. That is why we have emoticons, but not everyone uses them. And sometimes, no matter how good we are with words, they can be taken the wrong way.

I am not defending anyone, taking sides or passing comment on what has been said/done, but just felt that my comment above should be taken into account. :)

Please don't leave. I'm so enjoying reading all the posts here - yours especially - you don't know how much I value this forum and the people who contribute. I am suffering from severe depression right now and - hard to believe it - this is one of the things that is keeping me sane right now. I check the forum almost hourly, don't leave. - ignore anything that isn 't nice and just address yourself to those who value what you have to contribute .

Hi Duncan, just hang in there and keep posting, we love hearing about your hens in such a different country. Everyone's welcome here, the more variety in our outlooks and methods the better. Like you, the forum's quite a big part of my life and it's good to get to know new online friends.

As a person with an OH who is a long term depressive ( horrible term) I can tell you that light is at the end of the tunnel. George isn't cured but is in long-term remission, with medication and doing things that help him...he boxes and does martial arts, has a good routine....his routine....not anyone else. Keep in keeping on, its all anyone can do..one day at a time x

Well, I agree with you that sometimes this may be the case, but not in this instance! You must of missed the replies to some of my posts I think and you also haven't seen the PM I received. I can assure you there is no 'twinkle' and in the case there is no other way the comments could be taken!!
