Hello, if they are both pure bred then all the chicks will be black but will carry one copy of the lavender gene.
If you then mate brother to sister you should get 25% lavender chicks.

I know the lavender is pure bred, and pretty sure the black one is as well. What other colour is dominant? Many thanks, regards, VB.

the black Pekin (hen) has a gold neck; looking at genetics, she is a gold birchen x lavender, so strictly not pure bred, does this make a difference, or is it a wait and see (if it happens)? Regards, VB.

My black Pekin is a gold birchen I've discovered - pure bred.
The question is what will a mating between my lavender cockerel and gold birchen hen produce?
