I know it's hot weather and all, but should a chicken be looking pale and panting? None of the others seem to be doing it. Any help would be much appreciated. :?

Hello, it is normal if they are too hot- like at the moment! Have they got any shade? and keep the water topped up and cold- chickens can't sweat- they pant to lose heat.
regards, David :)

Thank you for that David.I let the chickens out of the run so they could find some deeper shade as they have mainly dappled shade in the run and made sure their water was cold. Today she is no better and seems to be just drinking and not eating. She still pants a lot and her crop feels very large and as if filled with fluid. What should I do? Please help, cos I don't know what to do for the best. :?

Hi, does her breath smell? It may be sour crop- you will need a vet to empty it- it can be done easily by someone who knows what they are doing- please dont try if you are a novice- you can drown them easily if you put the tube down the wrong hole- I would try to take her to a vets ASAP
regards, David :)

Oh dear. At least it isn't on a Saturday night followed by a Bank holiday when all this is happening. That always seems to be the case with calamities. Anyway I examined her, like you suggested and her breath didn't smell too bad to me, but she vomitted up some clear ish liquid. She also pooed on me and it was very watery. I will see how she is in the morning and take her to the vet if she isn't right. Thank you for your advice :!:

Took her to the vet this afternoon and it turned out she had a tumour which was probably Leucosis (?) so sadly she was put down. Such a shame, but nothing to be done about it. :( Thanks for the advice - it was the right thing to do to take her to the vet.

So sorry to hear your news, as i know how attached i am with my four girls already and i haven't even had them for a week yet :(

Thinking of you Kimx
