Hi Guys,

I have one gosling out of 5 which is a bit smaller but has been alright (eating, running about, swimming on the river ect) but today i found it lifeless when i went to let them out this morning, lieing like it had died, i picked it up shook it about a bit and kept it warm and it recovered. It's back out with its friends now but its got its mouth open constantly, can still squeak and is very wobbly on it's legs (has to sit down after a few steps) and now sits down to eat. Im going to check on it every 20 mins or so and its just not right anymore, any ideas on what has happened and what i can do?

Help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you in advance!

Amy

I would isolate it imediatley.

It may have an infection that is contagious. :-)06 I would think of a warm dark place and lots of TLC with a tonic (maybe).

Have you run through the normal checks of "comb, condition, and crap"... what are all three like ?...

BTW... I hope the "shook it about a bit " was a metaphor :-)11 lol

EDIT: Checked the crop etc too ?

Second edit: Does your river have fishermen ? I'd look at the enviroment also

Hello, i would keep it in- how old is it? are they off heat? You could put a friend in with it to keep it company- what are you feeding? they should be on duck/goose crumb, plenty of water and good fresh, grass. If they are young then put them under a lamp.

Oooh, I didn't isolate it at all, I put them all back in their enclosed pen gave them all food and fresh water and kept them all in. I went through all of the checks and everything was fine, she is still a little under the weather but better now.

Oh yes I didn't actually shake her i moved her a round a little to get her to wake up and rubbed her tummy. Crop was also checked nothing wrong. They are wormed but could this be gizzard worm and the wormers not worked? She is about 8 weeks old now and live with bothe parents.

Fishermen are not welcome its all private, but i guess that wouldnt stope people these days.

As i said, she is better now but still a little wobbly on her feet and a little under the weather, all i can do is wait until tomorrow morning and see how she is :(

Thanks for the advice though :)
