Hello everyone,
We hatched 3 Pekins at the beginning of August. 2 were definite boys which we luckily rehomed witha lovely lady who has a smallholding near us. The third we have kept as we are hoping it is a hen. It has not started crowing like the other two but there are a few things about it which makes me unsure. It has quite a large comb which is red but not as large as the combs the other 2 had). Also today I noticed that a few of the tail feathers seemed a little longer. Apart from this it looks hen shape(quite rounded unlike the boys). Unfortunately I wouldn't know how to upload a picture onto the forum even though I have read the advice on how to do it so has anyone got an idea from my description?
Many thanks, Claire. :-)05

Crow+big red comb=boy -sorry. Sometimes they only start to develop once the more dominant boys have gone. Ive just had a pekin group like that--sure I had 2 boys and a girl, as soon as the other 2 boys went the girl suddenly got large comb etc! Ros

Oh no, thats not what I wanted to hear! :-)03 It hasn't crowed yet so thers still hope I guess. :-)01

WOOPS-------Ignore me,sorry somehow I read it as it was crowing!!!MY FAULT. Must be 12-15 weeks so if not crowing and only just getting red comb etc prob.IS a hen! All total guess work without looking though.Sorry to confuse you! Ros

I can't believe this~ Today(Sunday) my husband got up early and heard it crowing. Infact there were 2 crowing as next door hatched out 5 chicks and one of theirs was crowing as well! Edie is definitely Eddie I'm afraid. :-)06
