I know we've done this one before  but do you all think this would work.

My friend has asked me to take on her 2.5 yr old chook. She is a sweet little thing but has never had any other chook for company only a.... rabbit  They were the best of friends but bunny has died & she's lonely.

Do you think she would be accepted by the others (if introduced carefully) & that she would get on with them? never having been around any other chook since leaving the breeders I wasn't sure she'd fit in. Ideas anyone? Mine are a mixed bunch 7mths old.

I'd give it a go. The others are still young so I am sure there would be a pecking order worked out.

The other thing to do is to find another hen to go with her, get those to be friends and then introduce the two of them to the youngsters. Perhaps even pull out one from your bunch that is lower down the pecking order or not pally with other hens and put those together first for a few weeks.

i agree with lydia, either introduce 2 together, or take one of yours and introduce first for a few weeks

The RIR I had from my friend was a singleton, she quickly settled in.

I would say do what Snifter suggested, keep her with one of your lower ranking hens, and then they can be introduced together to the younger ones.
