My huge cockerel got in one of the girls nest boxes last weekend and couldnt turn around to get out so he kind of fell out and has somehow injured his leg. His toes are now scrunched up on one foot and he struggles to walk. Yet he perches at night & spreads them out when picked up to be moved. He hardly moves around now just kind of limps if he needs to move. I am having to take food and water to him and he still as an appetite and his comb looks healthy.
Does it sound like he may have just sprained his leg/foot? Do chickens make any 'in pain' noises if they break a leg or something?
Certain family members are telling me to not let him rot and get him in the pot!!!! But I am reluctant to let this happen if he may get better.
Any advice is gratefully received :( :? :-)19

It is possible he has sprained his leg, I suppose the only way you could tell if he has broken it is to take him to a vet. Unless he is obviously in alot of pain I would give him more of a chance to get better before thinking of killing him. :)
