My Indian Runner ducklings are now eight weeks old, fully feathered but not quacking or otherwise so I still don't know what sex they are! They are as big as their parents. When does the curly tail feather appear? As I say, they are fully feathered and there is no sign of any curly tail.
The other thing that makes me hope that just maybe they are all female is that my drake (their dad) is so gentle with them. He was in the paddling pool with all three of them this morning - they could hardly move! If any of them were male would he be so nice to them?
What do you think?

They should be quacking/have deep voices by now if female. If you pick them up and carry them away from their friends they should object by either quacking or at least a deep grunt or they will still squeak/rasp - first is female, second is male. Curly tail comes with the mature feathers so about another 8 weeks.

Here you go Tim! :D

Some of my runners taken last year.. :D

Ohh so unfair...

I kept Black, Chocolate and Fawn Runners for a few years but had to cut down when we had children (and I needed time to run the websites)

I have around 30 Streichers (or Abacot Rangers) that I really love and hope to get some more IR's one day.

I'll be showing my best Abacots in Warwick at the BWA National next Sunday...

I'd highly recommend the Indian Runner Duck Association too... I'm still a member, despite not actually keeping them.

Hi,
I've got indian runners that hatched 20th July so now just 15weeks and have had curly feathers for about a week.Although the males do quack it's much quieter than the girls who when they get going are REALLY loud. I've got 2 of each so I'm able to compare "quacks" easily. Also the males are much bigger than the girls and in my experience are much more confident with me.
I love them to bits.
