Hi

I'm new to the forum and new to incubation! I have brought a R-com suro 20 and have 12 eggs on day 18. I thought I had the humidity sorted at 45% days 1-18 and 65% for the last 3 days (info that came with bator). In a panic now because I've been reading up on humidity on the web and there are so many suggestions - some saying 50-60% for days 1-18? Can anyone help. Was so excited about my new arrivals - have I blown it?

Thanks :)

Hi
Everyone seems to have different humidity levels that they use, I tend to find 45% upto day 18 then 50% for the last 3 days works for me best.

Don't panic - yet !! You're so close, you need to just sit tight and see.

A lot of us have found by experience and a lot of waste along the way that with most incubators, the instructions for humidity are too high in the early stages i.e. up to day 18. Obviously when you start or get a new machine, you will want to stick rigidly to the instructions. If you have a good hatch, obviously stick to what you've done. If it's not good try on a different setting next time.
Many of us run them 'dry' for the first 18 days i.e. no added humidity if the incubator is in an unheated room.
Good luck.

Yep I am with Chuck here and I always run dry, actually until I see some external pipping. So if you have run at 45% till day 18, try and hold off increasing humidity till you see some cracks appear in the shells, normally day 19/20. I have used the suro and have found them to be good reliable little machines!

ps: Don't forget to post piccies of your hatch! :D

:o Excellent !

I have been having a conversation with Foxy about the humidity I have had set. I had the same problem.

The net says anything from dry up to 58% + for the first 18 days , ! :-)07

I decided to split the difference and go with 50% / 52% ... Sensie Foxy expressed a sigh of disaproval when I happened to mention it ..... :-)09 . I now have it around 45% at day 5. Your experience will be an informative one. Good luck :-)17

EDIT;- Please keep us posted :-)99
