Helping them along is very tricky and often first attempts to do so don't work.

I personally leave it to nature to decide. But if you want to try to help then google about how to go about it the right way and give it a go. Don't do so without reading up on it first. Plenty of things online about how to help a chick out of shell.

Tim did post a reply to you in another thread about helping chicks out. In case you missed it. He said

Some people help out if chicks are overdue and have pipped and don't seem to be making progress after 24 hours but it can take a while for the yolk sack to be fully absorbed so don't get too eager! This can be hit and miss. There's a strong argument that says if they are too weak to hatch, they won't make very healthy birds...

May be worth giving that chick the 24 hours before doing anything. As I said, I let nature take its course and don't intefere. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

thank you for the tips, we now have 4 chicks, 1 of them we had to help out with but its fine. it was amazing to watch. thanks again Natalie x
