hi all , i would just like to know ,
does anyone know what type of birds are allowed to be imported from asian countries ( pakistan , india and thiland ) ? a list would be very helpful
thanks
and regards

p.s i just got the 12 oeg bantam eggs

Its not the breed but the DEFRA regulations that need to be met. Each EU state has it's own regulations as well. Problem with airfreight eggs is they freeze in the hold, so they have to be in hand luggage and if you get stopped at customs without the correct paperwork !?!

Actually they not freeze Chris and they can safely be taken in hold.Temperatures in suitcase is prytty stable just around 17-19C which is perfect.I had checked this with thermometr recording the lowest and higest temperatures.I know somone who took eggs from England to EU on the plane and they hatch(not great number 4 from 12).pressure changes are more damaging I gues. When you take them in hand luggages and go thru xrays-they useless.

hi thanks , so x rays kill the eggs ? will they be ok in luggage ( not hand ) or is there to much of a risk they will be shaken hard ?

That's interesting Tygresek. I had thought the luggage area was unheated, but a bit daft really as everyone's clothes would be solid. But not pressurised -I expect the microscopic air bubbles in the egg contents would separate out and damage the blastoderm. Didn't realise the x-rays used were that strong and I thought they X-rayed all the hold luggage as well. So you would have to take them on your person and risk customs to get the best hatch?

nice , do you know any dodgy custom dodgers who have done it successfully , with eggs hatching ?
