To this doglet called Jilly. You can read about her over on the rescue site, DOGS FRIENDS and click on - Dogs For Adoption - in the main menu on the left. Scroll down a bit and you can read the write up on her. She is a gorgeous girl and settling down very well.

She is staying with us till she finds her forever home :) And then I plan to foster another doglet from the rescue.

what a gorgeous girl.... you must be very strong, to be able to pass them on again!

Well done for fostering Snifter, Jilly looks lovely & I'm sure it won't be long before she finds her forever home. :)
We often foster for a spaniel rescue & have a 3yr old working cocker coming to stay with us tomorrow.

She's lovely, I wouldn't want to part with her! I didn't know there was such a thing as fostering dogs. What a lovely thing to do. I'm sure she won't be with you for long, someone will want her, how could you refuse the look in those eyes! :D

We're currently looking for another dog & have our names down on the rescue centres list. Got to be one that our rascal Rosie gets on with ;)

Mez - is the spaniel rescue only for cockers or do they sometimes get other spaniels - e.g.cavaliers?

Tim & Blue - Nope, not tempted one little bit. She is lovely, a real sweetie, but with a 2 year old who doesn't want to leave her alone it gets a bit much. She is quite content to settle when he isn't about but when he is, she follows him round (or he leads her) and it often ends in tears when she won't do as he wants her to do, ie drop the ball he just threw for her or something

Plus she needs a couple of long walks a day and I don't always get time to make them that long. Its fine in the short term as she can play out in the garden and I can fit in an extra walk in the later evening but come winter I think she deserves to be settled in a new home where someone has more time to devote to her.

Thanks mez :) I'm enjoying it and liking having a dog that is a bit different from what we usually have. She is proving to be a lovely guest.

Lucylou - The rescue I foster often has cav's in. They are expecting 5 this week, all used as breeding bitches on a puppy farm and then dumped in a terrible state when no longer needed. They'll all need some TLC and a while in foster but will then be looking for their forever homes. Its so sad the number of cavaliers, westies and terriers that are dumped from puppy farms once no longer any good for breeding. Some are only a couple of years old :( They do rehome anywhere afaik, so keep your eyes peeled.

We foster for the Northern English Springer Spaniel Rescue (NESSR), as the name suggests they are primarily a springer spaniel rescue but do get a lot of cockers in & occasionally other breeds.
They have a website with dogs looking for homes, a google search of NESSR will bring it up.

So Jilly has found her forever home. A lovely couple, the chap has taken early retirement and is wanting a companion and to get out and about lots. They were looking for a lab or collie cross and Jilly ticked all their boxes. He wants to be able to train her, possibly do some agility or flyball if she takes to it and enjoy lots of time out and about walking her. Plus he'll be around at home a lot so she'll not be left for hours or anything.

I'm thrilled for her as they are a lovely couple and really took to her. She made a huge fuss of them also so that helped I am sure  So, she is with me till Wednesday morning after her second set of jabs at the vets and then she'll be off to her new home :)

And on Wednesday afternoon it looks like this little girl is heading my way for a while.

Meet Bonnie :) Came in with 3 other JRT (two ages 16 and lived together all their lives). Owners did not want to part with them but due to severe illness were no longer able to care for them properly. So they came to DF to be rehomed. Bonnie is about 4 and apparently very upset. So I plan on lots of TLC and we'll see how we go. I'll be sure to keep you posted :)

O btw Lucylou, the rescue has taken in 5 cavaliers who will be placed in foster homes for a while till ready to go to new forever homes. All 5 are now listed on the website although more info will be posted once their foster carers assess them. All 5 were dumped in a bad way but are on the road to recovery and I am told are all very sweet and loving.

So glad Jilly's found a perfect new home!

We had a Cavalier for 13 years, they are such a lovely breed, wonderful temperament, we'd have another like a shot!!I've already had a look at the Dog Friends website & saw the cavi's, just can't understand why people can be so uncaring - poor little things haven't had much of a life being used as puppy producing machines.

Going to show hubby the website now ;)

Well Bonnie is adorable. Most unlike a JRT around the house. She is real lap dog, loves cuddles and sleeping under the duvet. However, when out and on the lead she is like most other JRT's and yaps and snaps non stop at other dogs and anything else she feels should hear her wrath

I adore her, she is very attached to me, but I know that in the long term, as much as I'd like to think otherwise, she is not a keeper. She is great with my son and round the house but the bad behaviour when out is something I can't live with. And knowing a JRT no amount of training is going to change it. She is fine off the lead but as we have to walk quite a few places on the lead till we get to her off lead walking places, its not great.

Plus I do worry that at some point my son is going to get stuck in the middle of the yappy trappy one and another dog and maybe get nipped or scared by it all.

And to really make up my mind we were contacted by a rescue kennels where I've been on their wait list for a whippet. They had one handed in, about the same age as Eric and the 2 meetings we've had so far with him have been great. It really does make me smile to see 2 whippets together. And all along I've wanted a dog to be a companion for Eric, one he can run and play with equally and Bonnie just cannot (and is not interested in doing that).

So all being well we plan to bring home the new whippet on Tuesday and continue to foster Bonnie till a new home is found for her. I'm in no hurry to palm her off to the first home that comes along and will ensure she gets to have a doggie companion and if there are kids, that they are older. And a home where she will be cuddled lots :)
