hi i have a chicken that is poorly she keeps losing her balance and is using her wings to keep her up, she is huddled in the corner and just sits sleeping, she has diarrhoea and is drinking lots of water which i have put by her. she is the top chicken so she has not been bullied.
any suggestion on what could be wrong with her please.

There are lots of bugs she could have - or it might even be Mareks as she is obviously very unwell - I think it would be best to take her to the vet - by the time everyone has said what they think it might be - she might just have died - when she could be saved by rapid professional treatment - hope she gets better soon :-)17

hello everyone, good news my chicken is out eating with the girls, no more wobbling, not 100% better, but loads to what she was like yesterday, she spent all day out eating and still resting more than normal but she was very ill so it will take it's time for her to get better completely. Today i scrubbed the house out with jays fluid as it said on the label it will kill bird flu, i thought i would play it safe as i don't want the others to get it.
thank you all again for all the advice.
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Hope you will never need to know this, but next time you get an ill chicken, try contacting an avian vet as soon as you notice something is wrong, you can probably find a reliable one in your area.

well she was out with the others, next day she didn't come out of the house and she had died, what on earth is it, now i have noticed my other chicken with it, she was the one who had it first and got over it or so i thought. This one is 6 years old.
apparently they all have been inoculated when i bought them.
has anyone had the same symptoms with there chickens.

just a couple of suggestions

Red Mite in the house.
Sour or impacted crop - sour crop especially causes hens to drink lots.
Respritory problems.

no mites checked.
crop fine.
no chest problems.
just wobbly, sleeping and huddled up away from the others, she's not been picked on.
all have been wormed.
my other bird went down really quick and died she wasn't even 1 year old.
any suggestions what this could be.

We have had three this year that have been running about fine but have then got wobbly and died within two days. They had all lost a huge amount of weight such that their breast bone was prominant but otherwise seemed healthy. We are now keeping a closer eye on weights and have now three more going the same way. One was only eating grit so she is in hand, one had swollen feet and lost her appitite during treatment (side effect) but hasn't regained it and the other started to moult and stopped eating. They are all being watched carefully and it looks like co-incidence but I am wondering if there is anything poisonous in the ground? About 6 have developed verukas on their feet in one area of the Orchard but they live in three different coops. The others on the opposite side of the Orchard are unaffected. But the deaths and loss of appetite is on both sides?

today my 6 year old chicken died, i am gutted i loved that little bird who use to love a cuddle.
i am so worried my other girls will go the same way.
what on earth is it.
does anyone know if honey suckle plant is poisonous as i have one down the bottom of the garden and the chickens some times wonder down there. maybe i am clutching at straws as i have no idea what could of killed my chickens. :(
