ohhh i cant cope got to build another broody coop tomorrow unless i can get mum to buy me the broody coop/ run from my local bird centre for my brithday or i re convert the large plastic storage container , my big maran has gone as broody as hell and most of my birds are beating the c--p out of her thing i have socks in the rabbit huth with the 2 chicks , witchy is in the little broody box i made under one of the plastic storage containers as it keep the house very dry but no eggs as 4 of the eggs were not fertile { got 6 more coming in the post ready for tuesday for another bird to brood } tia an mia are in the other coop and the bantams already have thier own house omg what do i   i am going to take a risk and give kola the big maran 3 of the pekin eggs unless i can get just 2 eggs of my friend and they will just be odd sod birds from what ever he has .

Second hand rabbit hutch Karminski off 'Preloved' or similar. Or maybe you can be inventive with a filing cabinet again.

i will do that when i can get my hands on another one although we have about 12 here they are all in use , went to look at some houses today but i could make better at quater the price

well i should not speak to soon but for some reason kola has all most come out of being broody which is not like her :-)05

no thankfully this year i am hatching pekin bantams and they are so small i would worry she would crush them as shes a big cuckoo maran her feet are twice the size of my 2 little chicks that did hatch .

i have never had to deal with that thankfully , next year i have new plans for my run so i will be able to make 3 broody pens not that they will all be in use at the same time might even happen this year depnding how things go .

Either she is too young Bantamliam, or the huts are not right for her and she doesn't feel secure for herself and her hatch. Have you treated the wood with anything?

i know what you mean i tried my maran but when i moved her she wasnt having any of it but thankfully 4 of my bantams are broody ,got my other 6 eggs today they will be left for 24 hrs then put under my other girl first thing in the morning .
looks like i might be alright for housing as a friend of mine if getting rid of a 2 tier rabbit hutch { well parents want rid got to ask daughter first how much she wants for it } so the main bantam girls will have that if i get it and it will be made into a 2 storage house so they can sleep where they please and on whatever floor which them frees me up another good broody house although depending on how its built i might just cut it in half and just put on a double wire mesh floor and get 2 broody houses out of that :D

I havent treat the wood chrismahon. and karminski i wouldnt cut the hutch in half i would simply just block the hole up so they carnt get up and the put 2 doors on it and use it for two broody hens. my broody hen has been successfully sitting the egg's for two weeks now and she is still keen to sit them. they are dew to hatch around about sunday. :)

i did think about cutting right though the centre and take the top half of to make 2 hutches but i cant as one wont have a roof  thought of that after , cant really do much tell i get it then i can have a good look to see what will work out best all depending what they want for it if its a silly proce then i will just make another broody house out of an office desk unit like i have already done if i can find one at work .
