ohh after i said i wasnt going to brood i decided to let a newbie pekin have a go and i gave her 6 eggs and tonight 1 hatched its so tiny but i am wandering if its worth moving them into the ducks pen inside a homemade broody pen so then at least the ducks wont jump up on top of the wire like the other banties do and give mummy some peace what do you reckon she seems to be getting annoyed with the others jumping up and down only thing i am worried about is the run flooding if we do get rain as i havent got any way of lifting it of the ground :( ,
this is when it was 1 hr old best pic i could get for now

So sweet Karlooben. Hope you get more to keep it company. I think the mother needs a bit of peace to bring up her brood but the risk of flooding sounds bad as she won't be able to keep the chicks, or herself, dry.

i got 2 more 1 hatched during the night an another just as i got in the run this morning :D :D i am going to order another new run for them and tonight somehow find a way of placing one higher up of the ground ,i cant put them in the garage as we are having building work done so the guy is in and out of there all day so thats not good with the dogs .i wasnt expecting them to hatch just yet i think thats why you always write the date down   i was praying it wont be tell over the weekend as by then i would of had something better done for them oh well learn for the next time .

I love that picture of the two of them, Karlooby. The writing on the shredded paper makes it so extra interesting and the chickens look so happy. Same day as the royal baby, too!

Got 4 so far one was hatching as I went home to check at 10 am . Going to move them later into ducks pen then over the weekend they will have a brand new house and run ordered one of eBay should be here tomorrow .

5 chicks 1 , i moved her into the ducks pen which is so much better an quieter for her but during the afternoon she had pushed 2 eggs away but one had started to come out and was struggling so i helped it and then regretted thinking i had done harm but 4 hrs later its still alive :D :D so only one more to hatch will do pics tomorrow of each chick, 2 of them are totally adorable and 3 are already picking at crumbs which is great and the first one born is a right cheeky little sod he or she is already trying to sit on mums back an peck her face   that one might have to be called eyeliner as from the corner of boths eyes its got a black streak going round to the back of its head :-)07

It's great to hear your good news Karlooben. Just what you needed to cheer you up!

i need lessons on how to photograph chicks  ehtier that or stick them to something to stop them moving :-)05 omggggggggg they are so so dinky. the 6th egg wasnt even fertile but i dont mind i got 5 :D , the dad is a pure gold partridge pekin but the mums are black pekin , sliver partridge millerfluer bantam , gold partridge bantam , cuckoo maran pekin and a dutch millifluer :-)17 nice old mix but i dont care .
the one closet to the wood was touch and go as i had to help it out the shell which i hated doing but its pulled though now all i need to do is see them eat and drink then i will be so much happier .

pekin bantams mostly , 2 might be dutch millifluer x gold partridge as i have a dutch and a silver female millifluer lols a good combination :-)05 .i have just been holding them and omggggggggggggg dinky aint the word for it.
2 have really think black lines coming from the corner of their eyes round the side of the head it makes them look like punks :D and i think for now only 1 is a boy as the comb is showing but that can mean anything i suppose although my last chick i hatched was like that an he turned out to be a boy .i havent got time to do sperate pics tonight as i am of to collect a duck friend for mr noodles but will do some tomorrow night .

saw a friend who helped hold them , the one with the brown stripe down its back is my fav :D :D
