Moderators Edit <Clip shows commercial chickens being caught and processed which may be offensive to some>

Hello!

I am trying to find this chicken collecting machine, or however it's called, from this video
but I had no luck until now. I called Big Dutchman and they said they have no idea about how this machine even looks like.

I'll be very grateful if somebody tells me where I can find a seller of this machine or even some more information about it.

Hello 4onis and welcome to the forum. The youtube video you linked won't play for me. Says it isn't available in this Country.

Are you referring to a chicken plucking machine?

Probably just as well you missed it Chris, its a floor based machine for harvesting broilers to be packed off for meat processing, apparently these things can harvest 35000 broilers per day. To answer your question 4onis your looking for the easy load universal harvester by Anglia Autoflow Ltd, website http://www.aaflow.com. As you now have the information I would suggest that you remove your post or at least the link to the video as this is a hobby poultry site for people who like chickens, and the content may upset some people.

I also found this film deeply shocking, but all the same, I don't think the link should be removed as this film is beautifully put together, without words but exposing the cruelty in commercial farming of chickens, pigs and cows. It links all the farming practices by following the products right through the food chain, to the supermarket trolleys of shoppers, with shots of obese people gorging cheap food at a burger bar, and the last shot will leave you in no doubt that the film was made with good intentions and is effectively making a point about how we live now in relation to the animals. Not an easy film to watch at all, but I'm glad I persevered to the end, all the same.
And yes, 4onis, welcome to the forum - but, as Dinosaw says, this is a hobby forum for people who love chickens and other poultry, so I think you may have offended some of us although I'm sure you didn't mean to do so. Don't expect any help on here with finding chicken harvesting machines, though.

I can see where you are coming from Marigold but I take a slightly different view, for me the problem with the post and video wasn't the content per se but the fact that the content wasn't clearly labelled for what it was and that it may upset some people. I have seen commercial meat production in action before and have killed dozens of birds myself so this film didn't particularly shock me but neither did I knowingly seek it out either, if I wanted to see a film of what goes on in meat processing I am only a few clicks from a whole glut of you tube videos on the subject but if I don't then this is not one of the places I would expect to stumble across one. I guess anyone now reading this thread has an idea of what the video link content is and can decide for themselves whether they wish to view it or not

I only watched some of this awful video, no sorry, and glad I cannot help. It was a great instrument though, to help people who were thinking about whether to become a vegetarian or not.
My girls respond more to "hello,my darlings, and come running".
Sometimes it is necessary to cull birds, beautiful cockerels that need a home, lovely girls who get sick and beyond the vet, and I have to steel myself for 24 hours beforehand to get the deed done.
If I think too deeply about meat of any kind, and its departure from legs to slab, I don't think I would ever eat again.

Based on the comments above I'm very glad the video wouldn't play. Sounds horrendous. We always give our chickens the very best of care but accept that unfortunately to make money from poultry you have to be very cruel. Poultry is very expensive here. It is raised free-range in small farmyards they claim, so people pay the price. But driving around the countryside looking at property reveals a very different picture. Tucked away in hidden valleys we frequently find large poultry sheds with small run areas. Perhaps 1000 Cou-Nu broilers ranging in 200 square metres for a few hours a day. That still fits the sales description though.

Thank you dinsaw for the link, it's exactly what I was looking for.
I am sorry for offending some of you by posting this video, it wasn't my intention to do so. I didn't do much research about this forum so I thought it's a forum for both industrial and hobby poultry keeping.
