hi all pretty new here , although i enjoy reading some very interesting topics, ive a manual incubator i can get to the right temp bt how do adjust the humidity? it hasnt a fan although i may fit one does adding more water raise or lower the humidity? and would a fan make it higher. im currently at 60% without the water!

regards simon

Hi and welcome! This place is great for info and advice, so with regards to the humidity if you want to raise it add water and obviously less water for lower humidty. However with your incubator running at 60% you don't need to add any water for the first 18 days but make sure it doesn't go any higher. For the last 3 days increase the humidity to 70% as it softens the shells a bit to help with hatching. Hope this helps and good luck with your hatch! :-) x

Where your incubator is situated can affect humidity . If you are struggling try a spare warm bedroom upstairs.

Not entirely sure but I think it would, worth a try and the fan keeps the whole incubator at the same temp where as just a box and heat source can cause it to be warmer at the top than the bottom and obviously warmer towards the light which will affect the eggs if you have quite a few and have some placed at either end of the box if yo know what I mean! Also if you add a fan the temp needs to be approx 37.5 degrees hope this helps x
