my little goldtop has gone broody and a friend has asked me if I could use her to hatch some eggs for him. Its the only chance she will have cause I dont do it cause could not bare to cull the cockerels.
He has wellsummers and vorwerks. His wellsummers lay hugh eggs so suggested best to try let her hatch the Vorwerk eggs which she would prob be able to hatch more of. Have read that a hen can hatch eight of there own size eggs. Vorwerk eggs are slightly larger so how many do you think I should try.

Think to be safe with try her with six see how she goes. Think she must be reliable at it got her from a lady who used her as a broody all the time and said she was good mother.
Just another question I am thinking of getting one of the incubators with a scope which takes only three eggs thought it would be really good for the kids to see eggs developing. Has anyone used these and if so how good are they.
Thanks for all your advise
