Hi,
Just checking how long eggs can be fertile for once you remove cockerels- At the moment I have 2 cream legbar cockerels and 2 pekin boys in with my pekins and other pullets-
The legbar boys are going at the end of the month- When will it be safe to consider the pekin eggs pure pekin? Don't really want to do a fertlity test and discover a load of strange crosses!
Thanks,
Nicky

There will be a gradual changeover but a hen will only remain fertile from a cockerel for 10 days. I usually allow 2 weeks to be on the safe side.

I'd wait two weeks also. I used to give my birds at least that when introducing a new cock bird.

Thank you both, that's great news- I can plan for spring now! - all I need now is a few more acres, about 6 breeding pens with big runs, and a few more for growers. . . better get on to the father -in -law!
