Homosexuality in domestic ducks

Hi there,

Does anyone know anything about prevalence of homosexuality in domestic ducks?

I've noticed 2 of my females 'mating' a couple of times now. There are plenty of drakes - infact we have 5 ducks and 5 drakes at the moment. None of the birds fight, and there appears to be 2 male-female couples, and 1 pair ducks that I've seen doing the deed twice now. None of the other birds seem to be showing signs of mating as yet. I wondered if the ducks were truly homosexual, or whether they had just got fed up waiting for the drakes to pay any attention to them. I suppose as long as they don't fight and produce plenty of eggs, that is the main thing!

Any comments or advice would be much appreciated, I've never seen anything like this before.

I don't think you need to worry I've had 3 ducks pile on top of each other with the drakes just looking on. The drakes will do their job also. It's a sign that your ducks are fit & full of it!
