Has anyone had any luck with homemade incubators,,im thinking of making one,,,any photos, suggestions would be a big help

hiya i know this is prob far too late but only cos i was thinking of doing the same ...have you checked out backyardchickens.com they have some great home made ones on there!!!

i made mine from a redundant fridge,,removed the gubbins from the back. steam cleaned it and fixed two inline bulb holders on the bottom, with two trays in , the top ones for eggs and the other is where i place the water trays,it has a dimming thermostatic device £40.00 and it holds temps to within .3 of a degree, on top of that i also use a small hygrometer placed near the vision panel i cut out of the door, about 12 x 9 inches .incidently i found using a algae cleaner for an aquarium is great for demisting the window. the thermostat just has a probe i leave in the middle of a wire basket tray linedd with triple kitchen towel for resting eggs on,

mine is a small polystrene box with a temp controller from maplins its big enough to do 12 eggs which is all i do at one time, cost was 35 quid all in including a wooden frame for it to sit in.

i can use the same controller with a bigger bulb to do a another poly box which can hold 40 eggs if i need to

only managed to hatch quail in mine. the chicken eggs got to end and died in last fue days tried twice.
bought a second hand one for £50 all auto so not to pricey and it holds 42 eggs got my moneys worth out of it
