Hi all Im new here

I have 9 girls mostly hybrids and a couple of silver laced Wyandottes. One of which is a stubborn broody so I gave in and shes doing a fantastic job looking after 8 light sussex chicks.

Welcome to the forum Dobby. We keep blue and gold laced Wyandottes. Our best broody was a Vanilla Wyandotte called Loulou. She hatched two broods successfully -a very good mother she was too.

Hi Dobby and welcome to the Forum. Sounds as if you're set up with chickens for quite a while. How old are the chicks? Any idea yet how many girls you have there?

Thank you for the welcome.I The chicks are 3 weeks old, i've no idea of sex yet but there's a couple of comical characters that love to stand as tall as possible, beak to beak and then they do a little belly dance. I havn't got the experience but I'm wondering if they are boys, there is one other that stands out too. I'm suspecting at least 3 cockerals.

We found that the males and females started 'play fighting', standing tall and banging chests. When they are adult the females will do the same as the cockerels when they fight, which is very rare. So I'm afraid that activity won't tell you if they are all boys, but the winner will be and the little shy one in the corner is probably a hen.
