Hey up

The Highland show is happening this week end with 600 exhibits in the poultry tent. I will be there hours and hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone else coming along?

Hazel

Was it good Hazel?

You seem to get all the good shows in the North! ;)

If you can let us know a couple of months in advance next time, I will add it to our poultrykeeper.com events calander - this has time to get into Google and then should pick them up some extra visitors.

For example try searching for "National Poultry Show 2009" in Google and see what pops up in first place. ;)

I hope you didn't get bored for all of those hours in the poultry tent Hazel

There are a few photos on my website from the Highland show too. Can I post a link or is that cheeky?

Many thanks for the opportunity to get it into the events section too - I certainly will do that, next year.

All those hours in the poultry tent made me totally hoarse, I had no voice when I returned to work afterwards! I must have spent too long talking!!

Hi Hazel,

There are some familiar names popping up in that list.

No problem at all in posting a link to the photos, it would be good to see them.

I'm hoping to get to a few shows myself - a waterfowl show in Germany (I'm keen to look at Abacot Ranger Ducks there), The BWA show in Solihull and of course the National. I will do my best to get some good photos at all of these.

Hey... Tim- your show plans sound very interesting. Is the waterfowl show in Germany one of those absolutely massive ones?

Wow - great photos! Janice HW has a huge smile as always!

Yes, I was going to go to a show in Germany and then it was cancelled and combined with another one to be held in January - so I'm now looking at going to the Hanover poultry show. It's pretty big I believe (first time there for me) and I'm hoping to meet up with Chris and Mike Ashton on the Saturday to try to learn a little more about Abacot Rangers (Streicher in Germany). They have some really good birds over there that haven't been spoilt. Many of the top breeders won't touch them over here because they have been outcrossed to Whalesbury Hybrids unintentionally- the drakes look so similar.

So my line up so far is Hannover in October, then BWA show and National in November.

I'll take my camera and video camera of course ;)

Hi TIm

Thanks. I like taking the photos, but do not reckon I ever do them justice. Janice looks lovely, as always.

Hanover sounds amazing. You must post some photos and a report on here for us to enjoy.

I have only met Chris Ashton once, but she was so knowledgeable and encouraging - it was a pleasure having her at Peebles judging.

Don't worry, I will be taking cameras, video camera and portable audio recording equipment! No fear, I will be taking as many photos as I can (my theory is if I take more, I end up with a couple of good ones!)

Yes, Chris is great, she has helped me out loads with one thing and another. There's often bits and bobs I need checking and she's always friendly and willing to point me in the right direction.
