Hi all
I have hens mixed and warrens a mixture of about 20 ducks of various sorts one Muscovy mostly what I call 'Farmyard' some are Aylesbury type plus 2 new Aylesbury type (4 months) 7 Khakis and a few bantams.
I have lived with chickens most of my life, I can still smell the mixture cooking on the stove during the war. ugh!
The two Aylesburys we bought meant to be sisters however one was acting in a very Drake like manner this morning, I will have to wait till they come in tonight they free range on a couple of acres to be sure it was one of the 2.
What I would like to know is what age would you expect one of this type to reach sexual maturity?
Look forward to meeting you all
cheers
Lyn

Hello Emma and welcome to the forum :)
What colour dottes do you keep?
regards, David :)
Hi David, I have 2 rather elderly Columbians, two silver laced, one blue partridge, one partridge and three crossed between gold and blue laced. A lovely bunch! I also have 10 Columbians youngsters in quarantine until I'm sure how many cockerels there are, so if anyone is interested in a cockerel or two, or may considera pair ...

I'm technophopic .. have just found the for sale bit, so will post my spare Colombians there when they're a bit older! Meantime - can anyone help with advice on featherpecking please? Of the 10 I have, I think at least 4 are cockerels, one being about 2 weeks older than the others, so slightly bigger. He seems really passive and has let the others pluck all the feathers from his neck (no damage to his flesh.) I've isolated him now within the barn they live in so he can still see his buddies. I am wondering whether he is just a peaceful chap so worth keeping with my free range girls or if the others have ganged up on him because he is more dominant. I've no experience of cockerels at all and don't want to put him with the older hens if they are going to bully him too. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.
