Well...... sitting here and thinking of chickens remembered you all and thought I would post

ONE HECK OF A LOT has happened to me since I was last on. I lost my lovely old Phoebe, and the night I had to take her to the vets as she was in too much discomfort, a near relation of her's from the same breeder gave birth and now I have another Phoebe - still very young and bouncy but I think she will become another lovely girl

I travelled much more and ended up on the south coast of France, then felt unwell, and was diagnosed with cancer. BUT - I haven't let it beat me, and currently (back in the UK) am feeling better and things are looking up

I might buy a house in France - in the National Forest of Perigord in the Limousin, and if I do may well get some MARANS :) hence my thinking about chickens!!!!

I will fly out next week to take another look at the place and decide if I am going ahead

My last chemo is scheduled for Jan. and I have improved so much they are offering me an operation which will hopefully make things even better

If you would like to catch up with what has been going on with me the original blog was http://www.theworldismylobster.org.uk and in Jan 2015 I started a wordpress one on http://www.theworldismylobster.me.uk

If I do get the house and some Marans I will let you know :)

Good luck for hatching in 2017 Sue

Hi Sue, how WONDERFUL to hear from you again. I've been thinking of you a lot over the past months, as have many people on this forum and on PP Forum, I know. So glad to hear you're getting through the chemo and are doing well. It's been a long journey for you and Phoebe, but I expect she was a good reason to keep going. I'm glad you have Marans in mind again, it's hard to imagine you without any chickens, for so long. We've now got several active members on here who live in France and post their experiences of keeping chickens there.
I hope you will keep n touch and keep writing the blog.

Hi again - sorry its been so long again getting back, and thanks for the good wishes

Things have been up and down for me with the last two chemo infusions hitting me hard. Still I have been offered a hysterectomy which was not possible before and they are intending to operate at the end of Feb. So I must concentrate on getting myself strong before then

I am way behind with the blog, but if I can I intend to update it over the next week or so.

Lots of love to everyone and all the best for the coming season
Sue x

It's lovely to hear from you, Sue, and although it's been very hard for you, I'm glad that you're now making progress and can have your hysterectomy. I hope that all goes O.K, and that now the chemo is over, you'll begin to get stronger. Some Spring sunshine would help us all, I think.
How is Phoebe getting on? I'm sure she's been a great comfort to you, but I wonder what help you've had with looking after her.

Hi again - got a message today that PP forum is closing and members are being encouraged to post here, so of course followed up by logging in. Op in Feb went well, but since have had several infections and what is apparently a seroma or sort of internal blister. Feeling reasonably okay, but blast it all, my arthritic knees have suddenly decided to give me a hard time after having behaved themselves very well (apart from once) since I started to travel.

Hopefully all on the mend now, though Thebus is in for repairs :(

Hope you are all keeping well and having a good poultry season

Love Sue x

Hi again, and hi to all the refugees :)

Well - infection gone, and scar healing, plus knee is back to normality i.e. bad, rather than impossibly bad :)

But some other symptoms have been winding up so I have been back to see the consultant and am at present waiting for an appointment for another scan and then possible further treatment.

Still, other than some manageable pain I am eating well and managing to do things including taking Phoebe out with her running beside my mobility scooter. And still trying to do some interesting things when I can. On my birthday (next Sat) my two brothers and I will be going to Marcus Waring's Knightsbridge restaurant for an indulgent meal. :)

Hope everyone is having a good season with the poultry :) Love Sue x
