Hello & happy new year to you all

Just joined as we are interested in keeping chickens as a couple of our friends already do.

Welcome to the best forum,you will certainly enjoy keeping chickens,they are the best pet.Do you want to keep large fowl or bantams?

I would like to keep large fowl, about 3 unless anyone suggests otherwise!

The garden is abot 80' long & is fenced all round by a 6' high fence.

you've got a bigger garden than mine,mine is 60' long and 23' wide,I've split mine into 4 different area's,so that i can rotate the chooks so hopefully they have fresh grass.
Which breeds are you interested in keeping? Do you want them to be purely pets,or for eggs,or for eating?
Mine are all pets first,but I appreciate the eggs and give surplus eggs to my neighbours.
 
Not sure what breeds but they would be pets & eggs as we're a veggie family

Welcome to the forum... 3 is a good number to start with. I would try to get a house that can take 6 though as just about everyone I know that started with 3 ended up getting a few more afterwards...
