Hey everyone,

Just a quick introduction , Im Andrea from Northamptonshire just starting out all I need now is my hens. :)

Ive put a wanted post up in hope someone local to me is selling some but will have to wait and see... Other than that I just want to say HI....

Hi Andrea, and welcome to the forum hope you get hold of some hens soon, feel free to ask any questions along the way! :D :-)08

Thank you for the welcome Foxy! Sure I will have plenty of questions along the way :D

Hello,

A warm welcome to the forum!

I'm a little South of you near J13 M1 in Bedfordshire ;)

I have lots of Copper Black Marans available if this is a breed you are interested in.

(Darkbrowneggs - after holding onto them for that chap since the beginning of December, he promised he would collect them after Christmas and then went on holiday and now has finally let me down - should have taken a deposit I guess, silly me!)

HI Sue and Tim thanks for the welcome.

Sue its very very windy here too Im surprised my garden items havent ventured next door yet....

And Tim Im am looking for any breed of hen as Im looking for family pets mainly , Egg layers are of course an additional bonus lol How much you looking for for them?

Hi Andrea,
Good luck in your venture, there are so many types of gorgeous chickens/bantams out there it will be hard to choose!
I'm in Essex by the way, quite close to Dunmow (not a typical Essex girl though, I hope  )

Hi Claire, Thank you for the welcome.

Ive already fallen in love with several different breeds and said "I want that one" then its "no I want that one" lol

Hey! Welcome!
Good luck on choosing! If I had known that there were so many beatiful breeds out there when I first started I think I would still be choosing now!
I can vouch for the Marans that Tim has mentioned to you - I have one and I love her she's very placid and I had this mornings egg on toast about ten minutes ago - yummy!

Hi Aileen thanks for the welcome, Im so excited to have my first egg but I need to find hens first lol.
I have had offers for hens left right and centre and some been at bargain price but then noticed they located too far away , No point in me finding hens for £10 that are in Wales lol .

My search continues and Im sure very soon I will be outside with the new arrivals :D

Hi & welcome from me too :-)17 Im sure it wont be too long before you find your chickens, loads of lovely breeds to choose from. One tip! always buy a bigger coop than you think you need

Thanks although tip a little too late I brought my coop from ebay and I think its smaller than i will need but hey we can expand over the next few months least now we have a starting point and we can our first 3 hens which we should be getting on Tuesday 8th Feb 2011. :-)17
