We have just started to Keep Chickens, We have one 12 month old isa warren one Black rock/Ancona cross at 10weeks & one Marran at 12 weeks. The Warren was rehomed after the previous owner said it was being picken on by the other hens, but she is very friendly and will even sit on my arm happily. We had been on Holiday to York for a week, and while there saw a man charging for people to have their photo taken with an Owl on their arm, I wonder how much they would pay to have a photo with a chicken on their Arm. Although I think i would prefer the first Hen1 shot to Hen2. Just after Hen2 she left a message for me all down my top.

Hi,
it's nice to be here. We are happy (Ginger) the warren settled so quickly, as within 5 days of coming to us she started laying, and produced one a day since then.
I find watching them fascinating, mainly because my daughter and i are Interested in Dinosaurs, and recently re-watched the series walking with Dinosaurs. In one particular episode a small dinosaur jumps up to catch a dragon fly and this is what i saw my Maran do today. i have spent 4 to 5 hours a day sitting outside watching them run around the garden and dig for worms and chase each other around when they get one.
The reason i can spend so much time doing this is that i have just retired due to Osteoarthritis, so i can read, drink tea and eat out there and find so much enjoyment in doing it. I have certainly found that my stress levels have dropped way down because these hens make me laugh so much.
