Hi,
Today when i was checking my chickens over i saw something weird on the cockerels earlobe. His right one was normal, but the left one was black, crusty and looked moist. i touched it and he flinched, but it didnt feel moist. Anyone got any idea what this might be?
thanks :D

Sounds like a wasp sting or he's been fighting with another cockerel and sustained minor damage. I'd bathe it and have a better look. If he flinches and you haven't got another cockerel the wasp sting is most likely.
Not sure what to put on it -is it vinegar on stings or is that for nettles??

No idea. He could not possibly have got it from another cockerel and it doesnt look like a wasp sting, ill try and post a pic.

Vinegar for wasp stings (& iirc nettle stings), bicarb of soda for bee stings...
