Yes I am new to the hatching game and and made some fowl ups trying to hatch chicken eggs.

Right I own a Covatutto 7.

I have tried twice to hatch eggs, 12 in all, 1Chick, what the hell am I doing wrong.

Inside temp is 95-100 and humidity is kept at 50/55.

Please help me before I waste more money and deaths.

Jimbo

Hi Jimbo, temp needs to be 99.5 or 37.5 C and as constant as possible- humidity for first 18 days- anywhere from 35- 45% -try not to let it get much higher- then for last three days up the hunidity to 60-70%
I take it you are turning the eggs at least twice a day? the more the better- are you candling your eggs after 7 days? Are they dead in shell? or just not hatching?
regards, David :)

Hi Dave.

Cheers for that info, sounds like I messed up on the Humidity twice

Yes I turn my eggs twice per day, but have never put a torch to them, this I must start doing.

I have read a bit of stuff about hatching but they all say different things, but tried using a forum. I'm glad I did now.

Cheers mate

I have one of these & have found it is really hard to keep humidity down. I ran it dry last hatch I did, had 2 LF out, both ok & 3 bantams, 1 fine - 2 splay leg & crook toe - had to dispatch both in the end 4 wks & 6 wks. Dont like this incy very much as 1st hatch failed (DIS), 2nd only one out & then died& splay leg, then 5 out (2 culled) definite humidity problem as all hatched day early plus all but 3 died/culled. out of 22 eggs only 3 ok.

Amazingly, a person who 'had experience with this incy said to keep in the kitchen as problem with keeping humidity up???? Mmmm, not in my house (no-one on here i must add)

turn them 3 times - it needs to be an odd number each day, so that they are a different way round every night (does that make sense?!)
