Hi, I desperately need advice. I have a runner duck who has hatched a duckling outside my garden in some very thick bushes, she brings the baby back daily so she can get something to eat but what do I do about the duckling? should I take it from her and rear it myself should I stop her leaving the garden to go back to her nest and cage them seperately from my other ducks. How does the duckling survive without food and water. What should I do as I also have cats. Please help :-)19

my cats never bother with duckling or chicks and ducks grow so fast but if you have some were she can sleep safe with duckling at night i would of thought that she would protect it from other ducks and make sure it eats drinks. unmedicated chick crumb both can eat

leave the duckling with the mum, try and protect them both at night, put them somewhere safe together. ducklings don't need to eat for 24 hours. get some unmedicated chick crumbs for the first couple of weeks, then some growers for them :)

Thanks for the advice, have decided to keep both mother and baby at home where I can keep an eye on them, have got a seperate house they can use at night and duckling can have her crumbs. Thanks again :D
