Hi
I have a batch of Call Duck eggs in the incubator that were due to hatch (after 30 days) on Monday, but there is still NOTHING happening, not even a movement. We are now at day 32. Are they still likely to hatch or has something drastic happened?
I checked their progress regularly throughout the incubation period & each one was developing well.
My incubator is a fully automatic one but I have turned up the humidity.
Any advice gratefully received!
Cheers!

have you had success hatching your own eggs, in the past ducks need quite high humidity during incubation esp for the last three days as it will help soften the eggs and stop them drying out during hatching, when incubating mine i stop turning them at 25 days and close the air vents then on the 28th day they start to hatch.
how often and at wat intervals did you candle your eggs. i always crack open the ones that i dont hatch to see how far they got and that can tell me what went wrong.

are they eggs from your own ducks or did you buy them.
what was your humidity and temp

Hi. Thanks for that.
This is my 1st attempt with ducks although I've been successful with chickens before.
These are eggs from my own ducks.
I candled them about once a week & last checked them on day 26 when I turned the humidity up to max (70%) & haven't opened the lid since. The temp is currently 37c
Do ducks sometimes run well over the 30 days? Is it time to switch off the incubator & try again?

they can sometimes run over 30 days it all depends on the amount off eggs you have but you should see movement by the 28th day. i have had ducks and quails hatch early and late but that could be due to slight temp changes (slightly to high or low) but the early ones never survive past 24 hours. if they go over 35 days then you can be sure they r all dead,

i have a home made incubator and it took 3 attempts to get it right, 70% is fine for ducks but i wouldnt turn it up any higher for the last 3 days, i hatch my ayelsburys at 70-75%H and 99-100'F. i tilt 3 times a day and i stand my eggs at 45 degrees with the big end pointing up.

if you crack them and have a look at the development of the eggs it will give you an idea of what went wrong

Thanks for relying
Still nothing, think we can call it. :-(

yep unfortunately so,

if you are having trouble hatching them yourself, try leaving them under the bird until they have hatched then move them to a brooder once they have hatched
