My lovely pekin cockerel Dumpling died almost 2 weeks ago - the only symptom was really bright green watery poo and he just went downhill and sadly died within 48 hours. Now Myrtle has the same poo and yesterday was very quiet and miserable (mind you, the weather was awful so the other 2 weren't very perky either). Her poo is quite watery, very mucous-y (even the white part) and seems to consist of brown bits of intestine, like little sausages. It also has quite unnatural looking bright green bits and liquid, but no blood. I will try and post a photo later when I find the camera. I can't find anything like it on any of the poo charts. Naturally, after Dumpling's fate, I rushed a poo sample to the vets yesterday (although that had longer pink strands in it which I thought could be worms but apparently it was gut lining) and she has prescribed Baycox for possible cocci and also Flubenvet in case of worms, which seems a bit of an assault on a damaged gut, but that's what I'm doing, and treating all three chickens together. Luckily Myrtle seems a bit perkier today. Yesterday she wasn't interested in food at all but I made up some mash with the treated pellets today and she ate it quite enthusiastically. Fingers crossed that the Baycox is working. I syringed some treated water into her beak yesterday to make sure she got some inside her quickly.
Has anyone seen this type of poo before and knows what it could be? I guess it could be cocci - we have lots of pigeons in the garden which the vet says are the worst for carrying it, but there is no blood in the poo which I thought was the warning sign.

One of mine had bright green poo - bright as 'the mask' character and it was a gut infection. Antibiotics cleared it up in a week, so you may be lucky. None of the others got it though, so not sure what would cause more than one to get it.

I'm pleased to say she is much better already and currently having a dustbath which is a good sign. I was just so worried after Dumpling went down so quickly. And yes, it is like the Mask, or even brighter - a really weird colour. I'll check the poo below her perch in the morning, but fingers crossed, she seems to be recovering. Other than the fact that your chicken got better on antibiotics - can you be sure it was a gut infection? It does seem odd that 2 of mine have had the same thing within 2 weeks - as if it were contagious?
Just going to take them their warm mash - it's a bit early in the year for it but they love it and I always feel so mean keeping them shut in all day when worming them. Normally I worm them when we're on holiday so the neighbours are the mean ones!

They certainly do - easily fooled!
Just for the record, Myrtle is still doing wet green poos (found a really stinky one in the coop just after they'd gone up to bed) but does seem better in herself. Her crop wasn't very full though.

Vet said it was classic gut infection and she's still going strong months later, but can't say it's the same thing as yours has got. So many reasons for chickens to get sick it sometimes amazes me how they're not extinct.
