Thank you for allowing us to join the forum. We have had our 15 backyard hens for just over a year. We have five groups of each variety all hybrids. Silver Sussex, cuckoo Marans, Rhondda rangers, black rocks and bluebells. They faithfully lay and live in a huge purpose built hen house. Our granddaughter now aged for loves them. We are thinking of getting a few exhibition hens as we show ponies and our granddaughter wants to show her hens when we go to the shows but the categories mean that they have to be pure breeds. We got our hens for eggs so at the time didn't consider pure breeds or exhibition quality. If anyone can help please let us know. We want some ultra special hens. Thanks For your time.

Whereabouts in Wales are you? If you give us some idea of the area, someone might be able to suggest a good breeder. Would you be looking for bantams or LF? Maybe bantams would be nice if they were for a child to show.

Like any new birds you would have to integrate them carefully, but there's no reason why you couldn't keep a mixed flock.
