That's South Holland, Lincolnshire to be precise... Hope to learn lots about poultry keeping, used to keep half a dozen hybrid layers a few years ago and recently a friend who has been keeping chickens for a year or so lost half his hens and a Welsommer cockerel to an unfriendly fox. I arranged for a young replacement cockerel to be collected, meanwhile my friend bought an incubator and rounded up all the eggs he could find from the garden and managed to rear 7 youngsters, the new cockerel (Freddie) will be returning here with us later in the year. Freddie has been very active with the remaining hens, three weeks ago I put 4 eggs in my dusted off incubator and yesterday three fine young chicks emerged and are at the moment sunning themselves in the conservatory while it is so warm, will bring them back into the utility room before it gets too cool out there. Last week I purchased from Ebay 12 Black Copper Marans eggs jointly with another friend and hopefully I will (touch wood) be starting out with a few young of this intriguing breed, very interested if there are any Marans keepers in the Spalding area and would like to hear from any of you that love those big brown eggs... :D ...any spare? anyway enough from me and I'm off to read more posts

HI and welcome to the forum - there are a few people on here who keep marans - try placing a post in the hatching eggs wanted section and I'm sure you'll find someone who has some :D

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.

I've just sold on my Copper Blacks to make room for new 'projects' otherwise I could have posted some eggs to you. Ros had some from me last year and may have hatching eggs. Not sure whether she kept a cockerel or still has them.

Good luck and see you in the forums.

Tim
