have half a dozen mixed hens , used to keep ornamental ducks and looking to do so again , just had a total failure trying to hatch dewlap toulouse eggs , should have read this forum before I spent all that money.

I am in Norfolk and keep dewlap toulouse- sorry to hear about you experience what happened to your eggs? dead in shell? just before hatching? They can be very hard to hatch.

Thanks for the welcome , three dead in shell at various stages , one hatched (with a lot of help) but was so weak it didn't survive , eggs bought thru ebay , the supplier was OK , I just think toulouse and the postal system don't mix , I have an R-Com Pro 20 , research indicates a still air incubator is better , what do you use ?

Hi, it doesn't matter about the post- they are still hard to hatch when they haven't been posted- i use polyhatch,r-coms, hens and muskovy ducks to hatch mine- they hatch better in a still air machine- but forced air is ok to incubate with- then transfer to still air hatcher. The one that hatched- why did you help it? did you think it was taknig a long time? they can take up to three days to hatch from first pipping- lots of people try to help them out far too early and they always die

I wished I hadn't helped it now , won't make that mistake again , I'll try again next year , will probably add a polyhatch still air to my R-Com , going to do some chickens in the meantime .
