Yeah, bit of a bad hair day.
This was taken just after I released them into their run. To be honest, they were in much better condition than I expected. The lady who rescued them informed me that these are from the first batch to be rescued from the new 'enrichment cages'.
I'm not original when it comes to names I'm afraid.
Red: The smaller, less feathered one who has been bullied from time to time. She's a master of escape plans however and tries to get out at every opportunity. Last weekend I was hosing the run and she decided to jump onto the top of the coup. Okay, kept one eye on her and carried on hosing. Ten seconds later, she'd leaped onto the 6' fence between me and my neighbour and at that point her break for freedom was terminated (she spent the rest of the day in the coal bunker tossing a cricket ball against the wall and whistling the theme from The Great Escape) .
Babs: A very sweet natured and curious little lady, she's learned to stay out of the way of the baying mob at feeding time. She has a small lump over her right eye but it doesn't seem to bother her and it's not inflamed. She'd much rather be scratching about for some corn and meal worms until all the fuss is over. Then she strolls in like a movie star and eats what she wants. Pretty smart cookie that one.
Edwina: Is yet to exert any kind of personality traits but I have high hopes of this little lady.
Mac: Larger and more feathered than the rest of them, she has become the 'pack leader' and is definitely not about to have her authority challenged by anyone! She's not beyond having a good peck at me either, cheeky little witch.
I'm getting around 3-4 eggs a day and I can't tell you how delighted I am.
