Hi peeps
Am new to this forum but not chicken keeping, have had lots of different breeds over the years, currently have 8 rescue hens and 6 pekin bantams of various colours /breeds the oldest is 8 &1/2 years old & newest one is a home bred Millefluer who's just 6 weeks old <3

Hello WendieKins and welcome to the forum. 8 ½ years is an amazing age for a hen. Our oldest managed 7 years and we have a cock just over that age at the moment, both Orpingtons. We bred some Leghorn bantams this year and they are now 16 weeks I think. Their new coop is being hurriedly built at the moment because they will be needing nest boxes soon -one has started crouching.

Hi WendieKins and welcome.
Where did you rescue your girls from? I started with ex-batts from the BHWT in Biggin Hill, Kent.

Hi & thanx for the welcome
Chrismahon, our old girl is a bit of a mongrel crossbred buff partridge pekin bantie, she was one of our original start up chicks, she is now so tame she happily sits on anyones shoulder while you walk around the garden as if she were a pirates pet parrot!
icemaiden, half our rescue hens came from the BHWT in Farrington Gurney, Somerset & the others were rescued rescue hens that came via a patient where I work who could no longer care for them. They all get on really well together altho they do tend to stick to their own mini gangs.
