hey people how yall doing? im looking to get a couple of ducks and chickens for eggs etc , ive always wanted some so its time to start doing a little bit of research and see what i can get on here, another reason is for my kids aswell, i like getting them to understand and have respect for animals

You' ve come to the right place; I found the forum the perfect place to get information about building my run & getting set up.
Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions, & to take your time getting your coop & run sorted before getting your hens (or ducks).
I also found the book "Chickens: the essential guide" by Suzie Baldwin very helpful; I got mine on the High Street, but subsequently saw it cut price in "The Works" discount book shop.

welcome to the forum Lewisdale. As Icemaiden suggests get a decent book and read up about it. Found a good starter book in our old local discount shop -Choosing and Raising Chickens by Jeremy Hobson and Celia Lewis. Cover price is £14.99 but I paid £4. ISBN-13:978-0-7153-3310-5. There is a companion to it called Keeping Chickens which is also excellent.
And for a free starter have a look at the Poultrykeeper website, which runs along beside this forum at http://poultrykeeper.com/ (see link at bottom f the Index page.)

The Chickens section of poultrykeeper has a beginners guide as well as an FAQ section that should help as well. There's a similar section on ducks, again with beginners guide when you're done there ;-)
