My grandad,primary and secondary school all had poultry(secodary had a farm on site) that i used to help out with and enjoyed doing so, but when i left school work meant little time for any hobbies. My self,wife and kids recently got Bluebell hybrid hens after submitting permission forms to our housing association for 3 hens but they came back and said we could get upto 5 hens. The hens are all settling in nicely but are not laying yet as they have only been here a week. I will probably have plenty of questions in the future but for now thanks for having me.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. You're like many of us who return to keeping poultry after quite a long gap - about 20 years in my case. It's like a virus that lies dormant for years and then emerges when the time is right.
Bluebells are so beautiful - I have one who lays the biggest eggs of all my 4 girls, though she's a bit of a pain at times, rather pushy, thinks she's in charge (and she's right, of course.) Are yours still point of lay? Those lovely eggs won't be long in coming now.

No worries there - once they grow up a bit and start to lay, they'll have more to talk about!
Point of lay is usually defined as 16-18+ weeks, I would call 12-16 weeks growers, but never mind, they'll have valuable time to settle in before they lay.

Thankyou,. They are very nice looking birds indeed. So far not had this many laughs for a long time when watching them getting vocal with the local sparrows, chasing the sparrows around the garden or when a gust of wind catches their backside and they jump a mile and go running for the coop.
