Hi from kempston, we are really new into chicken keeping and only set up this week, we have 3 wonderful ladies that are happily roaming round the garden they seem particuarly fond of the ground under the apple tree, in the three days we have had the girls we've had 5 eggs 2 of which have been soft shelled though, so are looking for any advice or tips that you lovely people could provid :D

helo and welcome :)
add some grit to their diet both soluble and insoluble i buy it at the animal feedstockists

Hello and welcome :) As well as grit- if they are just young birds coming into lay then they will settle down- they sometimes lay soft, big and small eggs at first until they get into a routine
regards, David :)

thank you both, ive added some oyster shell and mixed in some flint as well, so will keep my fingers crossed now :D

Hello Julie,

Welcome to the forum. It's great to have you on board. I hope you have fun!

Tim
