Hi. I keep a small flock of chickens in France. As most of my hens are now past laying age, I've recently introduced new hens, so it is helpful to read up on chicken issues and keeper's experiences. I've also started writing about chickens for magazines, so it will be helpful to discuss issues with you all. Thank you for adding me to the forum. It is great to join you all!

Hello from France and welcome to the forum. We have very few laying hens now as all ours are old. We exported 28 chickens from England 7 years ago, lost another last night so are down to just 5- 4 Wyandottes that are 10 and still giving us the occasional egg and one TNN who is 8 and looks like she'll be around for quite some time having outlived some of her daughters. We bred immediately we got here and again a few years ago. Some hens we bought and some we were given.

We're working on a new enclosure where we will put 6 hens 'rescued' from the farm up the lane. They sell Cou-Nu at the farm for the table, but I'm sure they will sell us some live ones.

Welcome! Whereabouts in France are you, beautiful country, somewhere I lived for a while many moons ago. What sort of bird is that in your avatar - it looks like it could be a lovely big fat orpington, but it could be lots of other things as well, the image is too small for a good look!

Hello and welcome to you from Essex, looking forward to hearing all about your hens and anything else you want to discuss
