Hi all,
I have one Bovan Goldline hen and one Amber Link hen who occasionally manage to give me 3 eggs a day.
It has been nearly a year since they arrived.
What do you usually do when you want to go to say, visit Paris for the weekend?
Are there chicken holiday camps anywhere? :D

The only person I can rely on to do a good job is probably coming with us, which is my mum.

I know of someone else who keeps hens, I could ask them to take mine for a fee but would it be bad practise to mingle flocks?

I'd ask this person and see. If you can I'd keep them apart from his flock. Could pass on illness to each other possibly, so safer to stay apart. If you have a small hen house and run can you take it to his place for them? Or worse case scenario knock together a broody box type thing (or failing that a large cardboard box that is secure and can go in a porch or garage overnight) for them to sleep in for a couple of nights and see if he has a spare run he can pop them into during the day.

Surely you must have a neighbour that would like to pop in and feed them in exchange for the freshest eggs they'll ever have.

I grew up in Leyton and lived there for part of my adult life :D

Thanx for suggestions all :D

Left for greener pastures no doubt cuckoomad ... much of our greenery has been developed for the "Games" but Epping Forest isn't far away :)

Ahh, Epping Forest, spent many a happy hour up a tree at Whipps Cross as a nipper and later on pleading for the dogs to come out of the pond so we could go home  and of course yahooing around with gee gees on
Chingford plain, oh happy days.
